Bacon or Sausage?

It’s one of the most frequently asked questions when ordering brunch — do you want your order to come with a side of bacon or a side of sausage? I am a bacon girl, all the way. But what about you?

brunch at 3 Bar and Grill

Anyone who knows me well knows that there was no way I would miss out on 3 Bar & Grill’s bacon week two years in a row.  A friend who loves bacon about as much as I do emailed me excitedly about trying out there brunch as soon as he saw that they were bringing back bacon week for a second year.

While they make a special bacon-filled menu for other meals, they only have one special item at brunch — the bacon-studded waffle.  While you can get bacon with just about any brunch dish, I was hoping for a little more creativity.  We ordered some Bacon Bloody Marys and decided to check out the full menu.

We both ordered egg dishes and decided to split the bacon-studded waffle as a dessert.  I felt sick when I left because I was so full, but it was all in the name of a well-rounded review, right?  Continue reading

100 Ways to Use a Strip of Bacon (via Endless Simmer)

The rain seems to have sucked motivation to write out of me — I currently want nothing more than to spend the day eating pancakes and watching movies — so while I try to snap myself out of the funk with some hot cocoa, I bring you BACON.  Which is really not a bad alternative.

From my favorite bookmarks: 100 Ways to Use a Strip of Bacon, from Endless Simmer.

Co Co. Sala Offering Saturday Brunch

Despite the long list of great brunch options in this city, we still have one big brunch problem: too few places offer brunch on Saturday mornings!  How is a brunch-fanatic supposed to try all of the great restaurants in the area if she is restricted to one morning a weekend?  Well, we can now add one more restaurant to the list of places that understand this dilemma.

Starting this Saturday, Co Co. Sala will offer their chocolate-inspired brunch from 11 am – 2:30 pm.  It’s been a while since I have reviewed their brunch, but I have been there for happy hour and dinner several times sense and can promise that the chocolate-covered bacon is still fabulous.  As is the chocojito…

Is it possible to have too many bacon t-shirts?

This one is pretty great: Haiku About Bacon T-Shirt

You Had Me at Bacon

I love getting sent links like the one below.  My friends know me so well! Now the question is, which one to buy? If they were on aprons I’d be sold, but I don’t really wear t-shirts.  I still love them and the rest of the collection is definitely worth checking out.

Permanent Brunch

permanentbrunchLast year I wrote about a restaurant that would be opening up in New York City that had two of the best concepts I could imagine: it always serves brunch, and it has an entire list of bacon to choose from.  Well, the wait is over!  Permanent Brunch has officially opened it’s doors!  I don’t think I’ll be able to get up to NY until October, but I already know where I’m going to want to eat while I’m there.

For a full review of the new restaurant, I’d recommend I Heart Brunch.

For the love of bacon

Last week, Endless Simmer posted The Top 10 Top 10 Food Lists.  And what top 10 list that relates to food would be complete without bacon?  Sure enough, at #2 was The Top 10 Creative Ways to Enjoy Bacon.   Read, drool, and go find yourself a good BLT for lunch.

Los Angeles Times Daily Dish: 1,001 things to do with bacon

Noelle Carter is attempting to build this list with the help of readers, so if you have a good recipe, pass it along. And if you just want a good recipe, check out the current list. I may have to try the maple bacon biscuits for Christmas morning breakfast…
